About Me

My photo
I'm a mom, a wife, a best friend. Sick with CFIDS/ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia since 1975 as a result of a nasty flu while still in grad school, it wasn't until the late '80's that I received a diagnosis. Until that flu I'd never really been ill before. With each year I get progressively worse and add to the bucket load of symptoms I'm living with. I've been blessed with an incredible family and best friend who've stayed with me through my struggles as we continue to find a way out of this monstrous illness and its complications. We've tried seemingly every approach to find my way back to health. Often I think our best weapon in this undesirable and unasked-for adventure has been laughter.

Milestones And Surprises

"But Daaaad!"

In no time at all, it will have been six months since I started this blog.  I know that bloggers are a dime a dozen, but I still can't believe that *I* actually started this adventure and have been able to nurture it as it grows, especially as there are computers involved and by now most readers know that I have a "history" with anything that smacks of technology.

In many ways this adventure reminds me a bit of motherhood.  First, you have no idea what you're doing (computers?).  You create it, you nurture it, you watch to see where the talent and interests lie.  You worry!   You worry A LOT!

You look at certain posts you loved and are sad because no one else seemed to like them much (the little wallflowers) and then you look at posts that you can't reread because of the cringe factor, and then REALLY cringe because somehow they have the highest readership numbers!

At any rate, I've enjoyed this risk I took.  I've met some very nice and interesting people (that sounds so dorky!) because of this blog - a huge thing to me since I don't get to socialize much because of this DD: the CFIDS/ME, the fibromyalgia, insomnia, pain, migraines, fibro-brain...

I've learned many lessons here as well, but perhaps one of the best has been that there's actually something I can still contribute to in this world of mine, despite the curse of the DD.

And so I want to celebrate my risk-taking (so unlike me) and to thank you all for supporting me, for reading my posts, for the comments that you've made, which I so love and appreciate.

With that said:

PLEASE keep your eyes peeled for a small SURPRISE to be announced soon.  I think it'll be fun.

In the meanwhile, I hope everyone's feeling the best they can be, only better!

  1. Congratulations on your upcoming six-month anniversary!! It seems to me you have done a great job translating the realities of your DD (as you say) in your blog so that readers like me can understand (somewhat) what it is to live with it on a 24/7 basis. (Plus you are able to construct much better sentences than that last one!) I also congratulate you for living with CFIDS and still having a sense of humor.
